''Sex Drugs 'N' Rock N Roll'

posted 2007-03-13

Of course, 'Sex Drugs 'N' Rock N Roll" is a cliché that has been used and abused in the rock world but it's nice to get a new Kristy Majors album. His previous effort "The Devil In Me" didn't appeal to me much so I was waiting for a new one quite impatiently. All I can say is that I'm not disappointed since this album is made of good rock'n'roll songs, from hits like "Wasted In America" (not the LOVE/HATE song), "A-OK", "Sex Drugs 'N' Rock N Roll" (sounds like a mix of TSAR and PRETTY BOY FLOYD), "Kids On Dope" (which has more of a POISON feel) to the power ballads "Live Without You" and "Down To One" or the (rock) radio friendly "Only The Good Die Young" or the pop punk tune "Zero Superstar", it's all good Hollywood rock!... The only thing I can complain about is the production, sure it's not bad but it sounds a bit too computerized to me, these songs deserved a better one! Anyway, this shouldn't prevent you to check this CD out. /Laurent.
