Back to paper! Nasty Samy ran one of the biggest French webzine (think of a kind of French version of Sleazegrinder) for a few years and decided a couple of months ago to come back to the paper format although he started paper version of Every Day is Like Sunday a while ago. Anyway, that's a cool and brave idea in this Internet age and a lot of work, but way more fun than running a webzine, that's for sure. A light version of his website, and more precisely a blog will remain: www.likesunday.com
The zine still focuses on punk rock, old school metal and horror movies mainly and the interviews are always great (but you'll need to learn French before you can enjoy reading them!) In this issue, Sam interviewed NOTHING MORE's drummer Brice (that's nice to be able to read about his old hard rock band STRATTSON), rock journalist/writer Alain Feydri (who wrote a CRAMPS biography just before Lux Interior died...), punk rock cartoonist Chester, Mark Rudolph (CV Comics) and Mr. Cu (Kicking records) as well as ORIGINAL DISEASE's first singer Bouth since you'll find a special 12 page article about the band. I really enjoyed reading this since I wasn't that familiar with ORIGINAL DISEASE and the band's history, I knew they were one of the first hardcore bands in France and I remember seeing their name in metal magazines in those days but the first time I actually heard them was way later.
You'll find tons of record and movie reviews as usual and don't expect them to be promotional or "mainly informative" reviews, Sam likes to talk about what he likes, but also about what he hates! Whether you agree or disagree, at least you don't get any political correctness and his writing style is always fun to read, going from teenage nostalgia and humour in some articles to good old dirty jokes when you don't expect them!
Remember kids, reading fanzines is not a crime!/Laurent.
