SWINDLE A-GO-GO

As soon as I saw the band on the Internet, I realized that they were a genuine rock'n'roll band. They sent me their promo CD and it proved me right. Hear what Spinx and Chris have to say...

A little introduction would be nice.
Spinx- Well, It´s Chris Swindler on guitar, Micro on drums (both ex Chinese Takeaway & Bela Kiss), Then it´s Jennyfer Star on bass (ex Misscocaine) and me Spinx on vocals & guitar (ex The Sexsationals & Sold Out). Together we are Swindle-A-Go-Go. Making a racket somewhere between The Clash, Hanoi Rocks, Johnny Thunders & early Manics...

Chris- that pretty much cover it all....

You have a promo-CD, when will the record be out?
Spinx- Yeah, our promo "On The Roxx" is just like a short kinda foreplay with a bad sound quality, before the real orgasm sets in...We´ll be entering the Acetone studio, sthlm probably in march....

Chris- Yepp....in March/April we´ll record about 15 tracks for the album that will hopefully be released in the fall aswell as a 7" on PeladoRecords

Some of you played in SOLD OUT SWEETHEARTS, why did the band split up? What's the main difference between these two bands?
Spinx- I was in Sold Out Sweethearts, and the band split up because, some members were happy just to rehearse and not getting anywhere else. The Spirit died, the others wanted to change musical direction, and it just felt like it wasn´t worth wasting good songs, just to be recorded and end up in the wardrobe, never to see the light of day.... Sold Out Sweethearts is in a many years to come of a coma......Oh, and the difference between Swindle-A-Go-Go and Sold Out Sweethearts? Swindle-A-Go-Go has better songs, more energy and everyone´s hungry.

Chris- Spinx was the only Sweetheart so I won´t utter my oppinion on SoldOut..heheh

In your bio, you mention the fact that you're not another band on some bandwagon ride, can you explain?
Spinx- Yeah, well apart from that it sounded good, it´s a fact that when one band gets it going, others join in and do the copycat game..... We play the music we´ve always wanted to play, and we won´t start making trendy rock stuff, even if it´d make us bloody millionaires.... Be true to your roots and your credibility grows, jump on a bandwagon and you´re just yesterdays all used up whores..... There´s so many bands that wish that they were Hellacopters or Backyard Babies....There can only be one!!!!!, everything else is just a lack of fantasy & creativity..... ha ha.... Do your own thing for Scooby Doos sake...

Chris- I´d agree with Spinx and also add the fact that load of bands namedrop bands that have NO resemblance whatsoever of their music. I mean where do you find HanoiRocks in Backyard Babies...It´s like you´re SUPPOSED to say that you like Stooges, NY Dolls, Sex Pistols and Hanoi Rocks just because you´re a glampunk outfit... I like Johnny Cash and Marty Robbins but would never claim Swindle to be influenced by them just to make my hot-rodder friends happy...

Spinx- Hmm.....?

Do you often play live? Have you got a best memory so far?
Spinx- Swindle-A-Go-Go will make debut live in february/march, and at the moment we miss it as much as a drunk longs for his bottle...

Chris- Best memory so far must be the photo session we did for the album I´d say...Having all tourists in OldTown giving us more attention than the booring old buildings and of course the pub-visit at the end of the session ;)

What's your opinion on the 2001/2 international rock scene?
Spinx- Dogs D'Amour made a great record, otherwise I can´t find anything that´d reach rock´n´roll-heaven-memoria-club.... But then again I haven´t heard much either....Trying to catch up with what people around me recomends....

Chris- Yeah they did...SwindleAGoGo formed...other than that I dunno...It was a rather boring year I think...No especially great albums came out...

What other Swedish bands do you like?
Spinx- Satirnine, cos that´s the only band I saw twice last year...

Do you have many support from the independent media such as fanzines or radio shows?
Spinx- No they all hate us, and they haven´t even heard us. That´s why we´ll probably become terrorists, and we´ll probably have to hurt some people he he...

Chris- Hihi...We do have support from independent media but not in Sweden unfortunately...Seems the only way to make it here is to make it somewhere else first...

what are your projects?
Spinx- The only project in my life is Swindle-A-Go-Go at the moment, we rock 24/7, 48 hours nonstop-a-go-go.... Record, play gigs and explode....Oh well I have an acoustic project with Pete RattleShakekid, ´called 77 Silver.

Chris- Yeahh we do...fortunately my days consists of 25 hours so I have time for my dogs and also have a little project with Volvex aswell...

Can you conclude?
Spinx- My mum dropped me on the floor when i was a baby.
Chris- I got rabies from our dogs
