Jo DOG & Paul BLACK's SONIC BOOM "Sundown Yellow
Moon".
(Black City Records)
This is the meeting of Jo Dog (DOG'S D'AMOUR) and Paul Black (ex-L.A GUNS
frontman) but this album does not sound like the records of the aforementionned
bands. You can also find some names that you must be familiar with on some
songs like Kyle Kyle or Bam. Musically, it is bluesy and you can feel The
BEATLES influence at times. In fact, this record could be the soundtrack
of a movie full of broken-hearted heroes and mixed emotions. For my part,
I can't stop listening to "It's Alright", "Destination Nowhere" and "She
Turns Me On". So yeah! This is blues rock but you can find many other various
influences on this record, from dirty rock'n'roll to Cajun music or even
country. "Sundown Yellow Moon" is definitely more than enjoyable,
the force of this album is that despite its sad accents, it leaves the listener
with the idea that he/she may not be alone in this dim world.
Laurent.
