The SLASH CITY DAGGERS are influenced by the
Rolling Stones, Johnny Thunders, The Ramones... this is only rock'n'roll
but we like it! Abe answers...
What's the history of the band? How did you
choose the name?
we started in early 99 when me and Davey ended up living in the same
house. we wanted to be in a rock n roll band. so we wrote a bunch of songs. We
finally hooked up with Lucky and Pickle later that year and then put together
our first album, "Lock up your Daughters". The name was just kinda picked
cuz we thought it sounded like a decent name for a rock n roll band.
How are your reactions concerning your last
album "Backstabber Blues"?
The second album has been getting a really good response. We have
gotten a little more press this time around and people are really starting
to pick up the record over seas as well as in Japan and Australia. We are
always looking to reach more people.
Do you often play live?
We played the club circuit in Phoenix pretty consistantly for like
2 years and right now we are sort of taking a break from that. We have plans
for a West Coast tour in June and then more touring later but we have really
cut down on the number of local shows we've been playing.
What's your opinion on rock music in
2001?
Rock music in 2002 needs to get a kick in the ass and a resurgance in the
popular culture.
You seem to be huge Johnny Thunders fans. When did you first hear about him
and how did it affect your life?
Well you know we first hear about Johnny thunders when we first learned
about punk rock... rock nroll music played the right way..huge influence
on everybody.
Your record was released on Unity Squad Records,
can you tell us more about this
label?
Its a punk rock label out of Huntington Beach, CA. Its run by Chris and Kendra
Bradley and they put of records they love. Check em out at
www.unitysquadrecords.com
What do you do besides music? Do you
work?
Yes unfortunately i work to pay the rent. My job is not worth mentioning
though, and i hope to not have it as soon as its possible. Everyone else
in the band is pretty much in the same boat.
What are your projects? Any new recordings?
Tours...?
We plan on doing a new album sometime this year. Its almost totally written
but we dont have a set date for when we will do it, probably by the end of
the year. I'm in another band called the fuck you ups and we are doing a
full length right now that will probably be out in June so look for it.
Can you name five records that you'll always
keep in your collection?
Rolling Stones "Sticky
Fingers", Ramones "Ramones", New York Dolls "in
too much too soon", Stooges "Raw Power", Dead Boys "Young Loud Snotty",Stones
"some
girls".
