| shock rock is still alive in this cyber
age and REBEL REBEL may be its best illustration. Teddy Heavens introduces
the band... Get ready for the 21st century's rebellion !
So, who are REBEL REBEL ? Why this name ? We are a cyber shock rock band from Los Angeles. Teddy-guitars/efx, Jet-vocals, Grz-drums and Marcello-bass. We picked the name cuz it described our music, image and attitude. We look and sound different and do only pretty much what we want to do within the music industry. We are the ultimate rebellion against the recording industry ! After ten years, how would you describe the evolution of the band ? We obviously progressed musically, better players, smarter business men. The songs are more diverse, our image is still evolving but has been pretty much the same, our stage show is more professional, the best in Los Angeles. The times still need to watch up to us ! I've heard about TV and movie appearances, can you tell us more about that ? We've done extensive T.V, videos, movies. Talk shows are fun to do. We appear in movies also, sometimes as REBEL REBEL, sometimes as our own cute selves. Our website has a merchandise page where people can order a sample of REBEL REBEL T.V and also view an interview of us on Fex II News ! Our image/attitude is ideal for film and T.V, so producers love to have us on. You have a song called "Mr. Aids". Recently, I've watched a TV documentary in which a man said that Aids has been created by scientists who tested some vaccination in Africa. Have you heard about that ? What's your opinion ? Yeah, Jet wrote that song about a famous Aids case in NYC, where a guy went around having sex with girls knowing he was infected. Many people believe that Government created Aids to wipe out the "poor and sick" or gay population. I tend to agree ! Is there a special meaning behind the provocation in REBEL REBEL ? Just to let people know it's OK to be themselves and life is too short to worry about what other people think. Don't hurt anyone and have as much fun and enjoyment out of life as possible. Do you think that music has to be dangerous, and why not a threat to society ? Do you think that a band can be a "threat" when they're on a major label ? The bottom line is money in business. Major labels do not allow you total control of your art or ideas and messages. Music is a voice to the masses, so it can be a good communication tool, if used in the right context. The web is the answer to that, for the time being. Big companies are already buying a lot of the web in order to control it. If an artist gives up his rights/ideas for money, that money has to be paid back, that's where you see control. Can you tell me more about the song "the jewel of the seven stars" ? That's Teddy/Jet song. I wrote the music and Jet did the lyrics. It's much too deep to get into in a few lines, e-mail him from our site, he'll be happy to explain ! I've heard some terrible news a few days ago about this 6 year old boy who killed a little girl in a school. What do you think about weapon and gun control in the US ? I personally like the right to own guns, but as a single person I don't have to worry about a kid getting ahold of my weapon. As a parent, you are responsible for your child's action, so instead of gun control, habe parent education to start with, then control who buys a gun. You can't regulate illegal guns bought onthe street, just like knives or drugs. That problem will always exist, we need to educate children on right from wrong. You played with many bands, what are your best memories with them ? Worst memories ? It's all been good, cuz we pick and choose who to play with. Upcoming we will do West Coast shows and NYC shows with The TOILET BOYS. That will be fun. Maybe playing with The IMPOTENT SEA SNAKES, they have a wild show and play in San Francisco on our own tour. It's all been a blast. What are your projects ? Upcoming, promote our cd "The Bible of the 21st Century" and put together a video collection available on the web in our merchandise section at www.rebelrebel.org .
