MICKEY De SADIST "Welcome To My Basement" CD
(Amp Records)
To start on with this review, I must admit that I regret to have let the first FORGOTTEN REBELS album asleep in my vinyl collection for so long... MICKEY De SADIST, leader of this too unknown Canadian band has just given me the boost I needed with this first solo album, besides two neat covers from the crazy G.G Allin, Mickey accumulates the references to the DOLLS, Bowie, the RAMONES, Jayne County or Alice Cooper to make "Welcome To My Basement" an exciting and rejoicing album. Including some quite old songs (written in the 70s) but also some far more recent tunes, this album allows to update real song-writing talents and can be seen as a retrospective one of a solo career that he hasn't shared with anyone until this day. MICKEY De SADIST's skills at punk rock, glam, ballad or blues (as if he wanted to prove that he could have written "Lone Star Queen") are weakless throughout these 16 tracks. A total success. This ain't Hollywood... This Is Rock'N'Roll.
