LIPSTICK KILLERS 'Silver' (CD)
(D.O.A Records.Email. Website.)

This is already the 4th LIPSTICK KILLERS album! On this latest black and silver release, the Japanese glam rock'n'rollers still play their own kind of rock in which you can still find traces of the NEW YORK DOLLS, the DEAD BOYS and other damned bands caught somewhere between glamour and darkness. Indeed, most songs on here are still glam rock'n'roll but keep this unique dark touch that you could find in the KILLERS' previous records. The slower songs like "Metro", "Angel of Love" or "Suicide Gene" reinforce this dark, melancholic and sad side and, will probably remind you of Naruzy's solo stuff if you're already familiar with it.
Fans of the Japanese rock'n'rollers won't be disappointed and those of you who don't know them should check them out now, it's never too late...

LIPSTICK KILLERS 'Beautiful Darkness'.
(D.O.A Records. Email. Website.)
The LIPSTICK KILLERS are from Japan, they look like gothic versions of Michael Monroe's band and play heart-broken rock'n'roll influenced by Johnny Thunders, The LORDS OF THE NEW CHURCH and of course... HANOI ROCKS. Nevertheless, they are not a pale copy of those bands, through sadness and desperation, they managed to build an identity of their own, maybe because of a special Japanese touch that one can also find in the vocals. Most of these 15 songs are filled with melancholy and nice melodies. It may take a few listenings to really get into it, but you will probably be seduced and that's why I recommend this record (this is the 3rd one!) to all of you who remember that "the sad and lonely are the only ones with style".

LIPSTICK KILLERS 'Angel & Snakes'.
(D.O.A Records.)
I got this album with 'Beautiful Creatures' but it was released before. This one is maybe a bit harder at times than the last one but the melodies were already present. as well as Naruzy Suicide's special voice. You can also find some Andy McCoy-like backing vocals on a few songs. The production is raw and that's the best thing to have with this kind of rock'n'roll. Raw, sad, genuine.. Good stuff.
/Laurent.
