Rich is going to tell us about his band I LOVE RICH, maybe it sounds weird
but it sure rocks!
So, who are I LOVE RICH?
Drewblood (our drummer) and I (Rich, Vocals and Bass) have been in the band
for about 8 years now. For all practical purposes it's basically our band,
I have this tree in front of my apartment that guitar players grow on that
I sort of pick guitarists from when we need them. Eider Ferrari played on
our record, and has been with the band for a while, but we would like to
tour a little more than we have, and because of his personal commitments
(he has a family and whatnot) he has trouble getting the time to do it, so
we'll probably have to get someone else for that kind of thing.
Fun seems to be an important part of your band,
I've even read somewhere that you were a kind of parody. Can you tell us
about that?
To have fun is my main goal in life. When I wake up in the morning, well,
when I wake up in the early afternoon, my first thought is "what would be
fun to do today"? And I've been told I'm a total smart ass. So I guess my
attitude carries over into what the band does. And I realize how pompous
this sounds, but I don't like it when people call us a "parody". It's not
like I get really mad about it, because in some ways I really can't blame
them because there is alot of humor in what we're doing, but we're not really
a joke band. I mean, the band is a good band. It's not like we think we are
"serious artists" like U2 or something, but the band is tight and we do have
really good tunes. I mean, there are alot of bands that are funny out there,
but it seems to me that most of their music doesn't really stand up, and
obviously, we feel ours does. Just because there's alot of humor in what
we're doing doesn't mean we're a comedy act.
There are some pretty good reviews of you in many
zines, do you always get positive feedback?
Yeah, for the most part the reviews have been pretty great for the new album,
but that's to be expected because let's face facts, we put out an awesome
record. Good reviews are cool, I mean, it's always nice when somebody likes
the band, but we'd gladly trade in good reviews and credibility for a huge
record deal.
Are you satisfied with your album? Why did you
call it "The Greatest Rock'n'Roll Record Of All Time"? Is
it?
Yeah, we're really satisfied with it, we really think it came out great.
Chuck Uchida did a great job recording us. We called it "The Greatest Rock'n'Roll
Record Of All Time" because, let's be real here, we're the only band who
could get away with it. And of course it is "The Greatest Rock'n'Roll Record
Of All Time", would we lie to you?
How would you describe your shows?
Our shows are an over the top rock and roll spectacular. We have smoke, lights
and fire, and sexy rock moves that drive the ladies wild with desire! If
you're a rock and roll fan and you get the chance, you should definitely
check out our show.
Do you often play live? Will you be on tour soon?
Yeah, we play live all the time. Like I said earlier, we want to go on tour,
but we have to make a move or two before we'll really be able to do that.
but we're definitely planning on getting out there soon. We're probably going
to hit California early next year.
Do you think that things are easier for bands
with the Internet?
Yeah, it's a great tool for getting your name out there, but I think some
people over rate how big of a help it is. I mean, the net has turned alot
of new people on to the band, and that's awesome, but it's not like we're
going to become millionaires off our web page.
What bands do you like these days?
The Mushuganas are great, The Teenage Frames are also one my current faves.
I haven't seen them play live yet, but the Betty Blowtorch disc is one of
the best things I've heard lately. As for bigger bands, I like the Hellacopters,
Buckcherry, the Backyard Babies, Monster Magnet, and Chixdiggit. There's
alot of good music out there, but you have to be looking for it, because
there sure isn't alot of good stuff on MTV or the radio now days....
What are your projects?
I'm going to assume you mean what stuff the band is working on and not if
I'm working on any arts and crafts type projects! We're probably going to
make a move with the line up so we get out on tour as much as we can. We
have some new tunes done, but it's probably going to be at least a year before
we another disc out. We're planning on signing a huge major label deal between
now and then, but we'll see how that plan works out.
