HUNDRED
MILLION MARTIANS 'Solid Rock Planet' CD
(Official
Website)
It's quite difficult to have a quick opinion on this album: First,
the cover is not the most attractive you can find, then when the first
song ('Atoll') begins, the production makes you think that
even if it's not a bad one, this is not the right one for a power
pop/punk band, but well you get used to it after that and you realize
that the song itself is not bad at all. HUNDRED MILLION MARTIANS are
from Finland and this album is their third one. They say that their
previous stuff was darker and that they wanted to release a good time
rock'n'roll album. That's what they managed to do with 'Solid Rock
Planet' even though the album has its high and lows: 'Genuine
Plastic' has got a good catchy chorus but some weird disco verse
and tunes like '+1', 'My Way' and 'Out Of The Shade'
can make you shake your head without too much difficulty and the melodies
are good enough to make you remember them. As a pop punk rock'n'roll
band, HUNDRED MILLION MARTIANS definitely have a good potential but
still need to work on their identity and sound to become the band
they should be.
