GUTTER QUEENS "s/t" 7".
(
Sheep Records)
After their promising demo CD "Born To Be Cheap", the GUTTER QUEENS are back with a 7" (nice pink vinyl !) These two songs are still a spicy mix between glitter punk and garage rock'n'roll, the kind of stuff that make you dance in the middle of the night."Teenage Wasteland" has a very catchy chorus, and so does "Get Glamed with Rock'n'Roll." I really like both of them and the main guitar riff of "Teenage Wasteland" reminds me of a NASHVILLE PUSSY one. From the sleaziest gutters of Zurich (Switzerland), the QUEENS keep on glitterin' the world and I can't wait to see them live. I also wish to listen to a full length next time even though seven inches are great (hey glam bands ! make more seven inches !) Anyway, get this one and play it loud !

GUTTER QUEENS "Born To Be Cheap".

This tape originally was a demo cd, but it is sold out now, which is quite a normal thing because these songs are nothing but dynamite ! The band has a garage-punk sound that increases the raw and wild spirit of the tracks and that makes you feel the energy of the players. Remember that punk doesn't need to have a $10,000 budget, this all about anger and energy ! I think that the band would agree. I suppose that they spent hours listening to the NEW YORK DOLLS, The STOOGES and the 70s glitter heroes. A song like "Little Suzy" is a punky glam'n'roll hit, "Fire" will make you burn, "Juvenile Dream" can wake up the punk hiding inside you and I can't say that one song out of nine is bad. Maybe one or two songs are less inspiring, but not bad at all when you think about all these bands who only have two or three good songs on their records... You should definitely check out how these queens rock (you can download the songs for free on their website.)
