GEMINI
FIVE: "Black:Anthem"(CD)
(Official Website)
The first album of this Swedish heavy rock band appeared quite promising
even though I still don't have it I can tell you that what I heard was
good. GEMINI FIVE is back with a darker album that starts with an industrial
intro called "Babylon Kaos". Then "Flesh For
Fantasy" (which is closer to a modern version of MOTLEY CRUE's
"Wild Side" than the famous Billy Idol song) sets the
rules of this album: heavy, dark but still catchy, like a mix of 80s
sleaze rock with pop and industrial. The whole thing actually reminds
me of the late SHOTGUN MESSIAH. "When The Body Speaks"
(that you can also find the video of on here) is apparently the first
single and this is quite a good choice since it has a good chorus and
since it is a quite representative song of the album and the band. That
wouldn't surprise me if one of the ballads( "Heaven Come Undone"
or "Black:Anthem") was the second single of this album.
The last song ("Silent Night") of this album is also
a ballad, and a beautiful one. "Black:Anthem" is a
solid record that can make the 80s hard rockers sing along and dance
together with the younger goth metal fans and that will make the band
bigger for sure.
