ELECTRA-KILL
"The Death Of Venus 292"
(Official Website)
The Franco-American duo formerly known as LETHAL INJECTION is back
with their first official release. It seems like the band has now
moved to something more industrial or even EBM on this CD while their
early stuff sometimes reminded me of WHITE ZOMBIE and MARILYN MANSON.
There are less heavy/metal guitars (even though the riff in "Already
Nothing" could be on a MINISTRY album) and more keyboards
on this CD than in the past but it shows us that ELECTRA-KILL can
be a very danceable band, especially on songs like "Don't
You Try And Break My Heart" with its 80s/DEPECHE MODE influenced
keyboards or "Mint Girl" which has a good single
potential. On the other hand, ELECTRA-KILL can also show its darker
side like on the song "The Death Of Venus 292". If
you ask me, "You're No Angel" and its catchy chorus
is also one of the strongest songs of the album which appears to be
a quite enjoyable one even though you can clearly feel that the Dynamic
Duo can do better, maybe with the addition of one or two band members?...
On the visual level, this record comes out in a nice digipack even
though the art-work could have been a little less cliché (the
naked girl...) Anyway, all of you industrial freaks and 80s revivalists
should check them out and keep an eye on them!
