Eastside
Suicides 's/t' CD.
(Website)
I was waiting for this album impatiently 'cause since I've been knowing
them, I can say that they're the most exciting band to me these days.
Seven songs that were on their previous demos have been re-recorded to
go along with three new ones in order to make what I consider as the album
of the year. It's a good feeling to listen to a CD for the first time
and realize that it won't ever leave you. I dreamed of those glam punk
songs, catchy choruses, sleazy tunes, trashy guitar riffs, demented solos,
explicit lyrics and backing vocals that could wake up every one who fell
for a New York doll once. But what could someone like me do? Absolutely
nothing. On the other hand, the EASTSIDE SUICIDES make my dream come true
in ten songs as naturally obvious as an Andy McCoy solo. All the music
I like in 34 minutes, some music that can even make you happy when nothing's
alright. Wonderful.
/Franckie.
P.S : Best wishes to Kan, Richard & Liz.

I have to admit that every time I'm listening to a new CD, I secretly
hope that the band will be the worthy heirs of the New York Dolls (a band
able to bring back their spirit without being plagiarists) and that I'll
feel what I felt when I first put a vinyl of Johnny Thunders' gang on
my record player. I'm often disappointed but, my stubbornness sometimes
allows me to find bands such as the Eastside Suicides and it makes me
realize that my search is not vain. This new band fronted by Frankie Nowhere
(vocally closer to Richard Hell and Jeff Drake than to David Johansen)
and backed up with four freaks coming out from another era takes up the
torch of the late Loose Lips and offers us 11 fantastic, energetic and
delightfully catchy songs with nonchalance. They are produced by Mike
Mariconda (New Bombs Turk, Devil Dogs...) and I hope that all the Dolls,
Hollywood Brats or Joneses fans will get the chance to listen to them
someday. Eastside Suicides are currently looking for a label in their
home country but should be able to bring their music to Europe soon thanks
to Safety Pin Records. Waiting to play the next full-lenght of these Austin
cats again and again, why not going back to the blessed era of the 70s
with delight and enjoying one more time a scene where the Eastside Suicides
could have been the spearheads?
/Frankie.
PS:
Thanks to Kan, Tammy and Liz for being so nice.
