BUCKCHERRY
"s/t".
(Dreamworks.)
So, this is the band that I missed while they were opening for
KISS in Paris. Did they start very early or did I arrive late ? Anyway,
I would have been happy to see them especially now that I know them. Their
album (produced by Terry Date and Steve Jones) is a real blast ! This
is the typical kind of record that you know you'll love after the two
first songs. I could not imagine that a street rock'n'roll band like that
would be successful in 2000 (it seems like they're famous in the US.)
The guitars are wild and raw, the singer Joshua Todd is really good and
the rhythm section is the perfect one for such a band. Even the quietest
songs are good, usually I'm not fond of ballads, but a song like "For
the Movies" makes my flesh creep and the 60s vibrations of "Borderline"
is enjoyable. If you like JUNKYARD, AC/DC and GUNS N'ROSES (before they
turned into insipid millionaires), you won't resist to BUCKCHERRY. They
managed to mix their influences without sounding like 10 years ago, they
rather offer something fresh using the best ingredients of older stuff.
Laurent.
