BUBBLE
"Chapter
7".
(Official Website)
This the newest release of the Californian band, 4 killer rock'n'roll
tracks, yeah! there's a few rock'n'roll bands left in the US and BUBBLE
is among them, there's no doubt about that. There's been some changes
in the line-up since the first album (which is sold-out now) but it didn't
have a bad influence on the music. The first song 'I Hurt Myself' directly
puts the listener in the atmosphere of this CD EP and those who already
know the band will recognize the BUBBLE touch with the first guitar chords. If you're not familiar
with the band yet, I can say that those
songs are in the punky glam pop rock'n'roll vein. my favourite ones are
"I Hurt Myself" and "Love Stains" but "Deadender" and "Kiss
Or Kill" (which is more melodic) are good too. Well, you should get this
as soon as possible! /Laurent.
BUBBLE
"How 'bout This ?".
(Basement Boy Records, PO Box 9952, Glendale, CA 91226, USA. Email.
Official website.)
I knew that I would like BUBBLE, how couldn't I like a band with
former DOGS D'AMOUR/FASTER PUSSYCAT/VIXEN members (even though I've never
been a huge fan of the latest) ? But what I didn't know, what I couldn't
predict is that I would fall down on my knees when listening to this record
that I consider as being the best R'n'R/glam thing which came out these
last months. From the beginning to the very end, I'm dangerously in love
with these songs that made me think to an explosive mixture containing
various ingredients such as a good dose of STOOGES and a spicy pinch of
Joan JETT mixed with the best glam/pop/punk sauce you can imagine. This
is played intensively, with energy and Share's vocals are brilliant. The
band even goes beyond the limits of its style with songs such as "drug"
or "eye" that I could describe as a kind of rockin' SONIC YOUTH/Brian
ENO tune. I also have to say that the force of this record is increased
by an excellent, clear and raw production, a true punk R'n'R one, not
the over-produced FM shit ! Oh God ! songs such as "independently wasted",
"shake", "don't talk to me" or "kicking walls" will stick to my mind forever
! So, you should have understood that I'm addicted to BUBBLE, and I invite
you to join me right now.
/Laurent.
