BLACK
HILL "Nasty Nights" Demo CD.
(Official Website)
It seems like BLACK HILL have been around for a while now. Like most
Italian bands, they stand on the metal side of glam with influences
such as MÖTLEY CRÜE or TIGERTAILZ (that can be heard especially
on "Traffic Light"'s guitar riff.) They give their
total respect to the 80s Sunset Strip tradition with rocking mid-tempo
songs ornamented with loud backing vocals and crazy guitar solos and,
they didn't forget the power ballad ("Fat Love")
as well as the accoustic one ("Strange Days") to
end the record. This is well played and the guys seem a lot into it
but I don't dig the vocals too much on this demo. Probably just too
high-pitched, too heavy metal for my tastes. I've just read on their
website that they're looking for a new singer so I'm curious to see
if they will find the same kind of vocalist or on the contrary, a
more rock'n'roll oriented one. That would give them more points in
my book.
