BABY
RUTH "Hi Fi Lo Rock'N'Roll"
(Website/email)
It seems like there's a bunch of Californian influenced glam metal bands
in Italy nowadays (maybe because there's more sun there than in Northern
Europe...) and BABY RUTH is one of them. They've been together for a
few years now and even though they're influenced by the 80s/early 90s
Sunset Strip scene, you can also find some Swedish punk rock'n'roll
influences too (bands like HARDCORE SUPERSTAR or BACKYARD BABIES for
instance) on songs like "Honey" or "Capitan
America" which are my favourite ones. BABY RUTH also has a
more melodic hard rock side sometimes. Most songs on this CD are quite
good but need a better production although it's not terrible... but,
it's sometimes a bit cheap, especially for the hair metal influenced
songs. Anyway, this is a release that all of you hard rock fans should
check out since you'll find some solid guitar riff, good solos and enjoyable
choruses. /Laurent.
